In order to maximize performance the StreamStor systems do not use a traditional file system directory. If you need to manage multiple recordings on a StreamStor system we suggest using the Partition capability. StreamStor devices support up to 2048 partitions. A partition is completely independent of other partitions although you can only delete or re-size the last partition on the device. Because the partitions are independent you are able to perform circular recordings (wrap mode) in a partition without effecting the data on any other partition. Each partition also has a unique label (XLRSetLabel / XLRGetLabel) which can be used to define a unique name for each recording. Each partition also has an independent user directory to store metadata about the recording.
Partitions can be predefined on the system or you can create them on the fly as the available recording space is used. You can create a single partition using all available space and then automatically shrink the partition to fit the recorded data and then repeat that process for each subsequent recording. This technique maximizes the use of space on the recording system and provides a simple way to manage multiple recordings without spending a lot of time developing file management schemes.

Hi,
I'm using this technique since more the one year and I'm really happy about this future of the StreamStore cards. As you can setup the largest possible size of partition and after you finish your recording you just can shrink them. This saved me a lot time.
Thanks
